Director of Music, Ryan Connolly

Ryan has led youth and adult community choirs, church choirs, and worked as a choral professional for over twenty years. Originally from St. Paul, Minnesota in the United States, he has experience in Catholic, Methodist, Episcopal, and Metropolitan Community Churches. He is committed to enriching the congregational experience through music. Ryan has also sung professionally in the United States and France before relocating to London in 2017.

In 2011, Ryan founded Resound Ensemble in San Francisco, a choir committed to programming a wide range of choral music that represented different aspects of the human experience through song. In 2016, on two different occasions, he was the emergency music director for the Paris Choral Society and the American Cathedral in Paris, France. Ryan currently lives near Haggerston Park in east London and works for a real estate management company based in the United States.

Ryan has degrees from the University of Minnesota, where he studied architecture, and from St. Olaf College in Northfield, Minnesota, where he studied vocal music education, conducting, and piano. He is currently completing his MBA at the University of Warwick in Coventry.

Organist, Romee Day

Romee started coming to St Peter’s some 30 years ago and has been playing the organ for 25 years. Romee was a Pastoral Assistant in the parish for many years, and greatly enjoyed organising a weekly Freedom Club for people old enough to have a Freedom Pass.

Choral Scholar, Venetia Iga

Venetia is a singer based in London with a wealth of experience in different genres. She has previously held choral scholarships at Keble College, Oxford, whilst studying at the university, and St James’s Church Piccadilly. She currently sings with London Contemporary Voices, the UK’s leading alternative choir. Venetia is also an experienced session vocalist who has provided vocals for artists including Florence and the Machine at the BBC Proms, and Jools Holland, as well as several corporate clients. As a soloist, Venetia has performed with jazz trios to big bands, including a highly successful debut two-night show at Toulouse Lautrec Jazz Club, and as featured soloist with The Sixteen. This summer, Venetia makes her debut at the Cumbria Opera Festival, playing the titular role of Bess in a jazz rendition of Gershwin’s ‘Porgy and Bess’.

Choral Scholar, Iris Oliver

Iris Oliver is a freelance bass-baritone based in Blackheath. She recently graduated from the University of Oxford, reading English and French at Keble College, where she held a choral scholarship and studied under Luise Horrocks. In her time at Oxford, she sang with the Schola Cantorum and worked in French choral music on her year abroad in Lyon. Her recent operatic experience includes productions of Purcell’s Dido and Aeneas and Handel’s Acis and Galatea. Alongside her choral scholarship at St Peter’s, Iris is a choral scholar at St Martin-in-the-Fields, and a member of Genesis Sixteen and Vox Next Gen.
