Gospel Reading

John 17.6-19

Jesus looked up to heaven and prayed: ‘I have made your name known to those whom you gave me from the world. They were yours, and you gave them to me, and they have kept your word. Now they know that everything you have given me is from you; for the words that you gave to me I have given to them, and they have received them and know in truth that I came from you; and they have believed that you sent me. I am asking on their behalf; I am not asking on behalf of the world, but on behalf of those whom you gave me, because they are yours. All mine are yours, and yours are mine; and I have been glorified in them.

And now I am no longer in the world, but they are in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them in your name that you have given me, so that they may be one, as we are one. While I was with them, I protected them in your name that you have given me. I guarded them, and not one of them was lost except the one destined to be lost, so that the scripture might be fulfilled. But now I am coming to you, and I speak these things in the world so that they may have my joy made complete in themselves. I have given them your word, and the world has hated them because they do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world. I am not asking you to take them out of the world, but I ask you to protect them from the evil one. They do not belong to the world, just as I do not belong to the world.

Sanctify them in the truth; your word is truth. As you have sent me into the world, so I have sent them into the world. And for their sakes I sanctify myself, so that they also may be sanctified in truth.

Intercessions

From Boachie Dankwah

Dear Lord,

We thank you for the gift of this church and all those who worship here.  We pray with thanks for all those who have preached here in our time of interregnum.   We pray for a successful AGM next Sunday and thank those who have committed to stand as members of PCC for the coming year to manage the affairs of our church.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

We pray for all our political leaders who have been elected in the just ended local, mayoral and parliamentary elections. Lord, we pray that you give them wisdon and courage to serve the people and the country they have eleceted to serve.  We pray for all political parties to have a common goal for the benefit of the country.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

Dear Lord, we have come to you today in need of your prayer just as you did for your disciples.  Heavenly Father, your word says “Let not your hearts be troubled”.  The escalation confrontation in Gaza, political tension in Myanmar and other parts of the world is causing our world to be troubled. We pray that you will bring peace and harmony that comes only from you in our troubled world.

Lord, in the silence

Hear our prayer

Heavenly Father, our world is hurting and broken.  We pray for those who have lost love ones recently.  Please comfort them in their grief and loss, cover them with your peace and presence as only your spirit can do.  We know in whatever we face, you are our peace and refuge.

We remember those who have recently died and those whose anniversaries of their death fall at this time: namely Vera Hale and Ruby Hay.

Rest eternal grant unto them, O Lord

And may light perpetual shine upon them

Father, we give you thanks for your grace and mercy upon us all these year in the name of Jesus.

Merciful Father, accept these prayers, for the sake of your son our saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen.
