Almighty God. Our Heavenly Father, you promised through your Son Jesus Christ to hear us when we pray in faith. As we begin a new year, remind us of the things that are truly important and worthwhile. Help us to live in the goodness that comes from doing what you want us to do.

We pray for our clergy, strengthen Fr Simon, Sarah, our Bishops and all your Church in the service of Christ; that those who confess your name may be united in your truth, live together in your love, and reveal your glory in the world.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us

We thank you for being able to worship in this church or digitally at home, for warmth in winter’s darkness.  We give thanks to all who organise, lead, or assist with church activities, for their selfless giving enables us to worship here; we are especially grateful for the work of our Church Wardens, the PCC, Bible Readers, Noisy Church Leaders, The Choir, Cleaners, Flower arrangers, Intercessors, Organist, Servers, Standing Committee, The Stewardship Team, The Welcome & Worship Team, and those who organise rotas.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us

Ever living God, we pray for peace and integrity in all negotiations in international conflicts. Hear the cries of the people of the world who have never known peace; bring healing to those suffering from violence and may those in distress know that as they go through times of suffering, you are with them and hear their prayers.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us

We pray for the sick and give thanks for personal good health. Comfort and heal all those who suffer in body, mind, or spirit. May your healing hands touch Vivette Ferguson, Kate Green and Gordon Lambert to full recovery.   We pray for all who have suffered from non-Covid conditions that have worsened due to delays. We bring them before you, and any other people, in special need of your care – and in a few moments of silence, we pray for anyone known personally to us.

Give strength and skill to all NHS hospital staff, doctors, nurses, care workers, and volunteers, fortify them with your spirit, that through their care and efforts, many will be restored to health, through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us

We pray for communities, our towns, and our cities. We pray for areas of danger, for places of corruption, for poor housing and for the homeless. Help us to be more like you in our dealings with the marginalised of our society, and transform, through us, our places of poverty; change our attitudes for the better towards each other.

Lord, hear us. Lord, graciously hear us

Almighty God, comfort those who are mourning loved ones especially at this time. We also pray for the souls of the recently departed known to us, namely Liz Kohler, Edward Brett, James Woodhatch, and Alison’s Wright’s father, Ian Wright who are in peace, and at rest now, in your care.

May those for whom this earthly life is over, rest in peace and remembering those whose anniversary falls at this time, John Ridout, Jonathan Pedder, Catherine Bailey, Dervin Jacobs and Robert Rosside.

Rest eternal grant unto them Oh Lord” and may perpetual light shine upon them.

We pray for every member of this congregation and ask that you bless us all this coming week.

Merciful father, accept these prayers for the sake of your Son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.

Amen.
