Intercessions
From Jane King
Dear Lord
We thank you for the ministry of Fr Simon and Sarah who continue to guide and support us. We give thanks too for the inspiration of the range of external speakers and ministers over the last few months.
Lord hear us.
We pray for those caught up in war and conflict, particularly those within and from Ukraine. We think too of those suffering from the effects of conflicts or oppression in other parts of the world, such as the Rohingya and other ethnic minorities in Myanmar, the Tigrayans in Ethiopia, the people of the West Bank and Gaza in Palestine and the Uighurs in China. May they and other refugees fleeing from conflict, oppression and injustice find peace and a safe haven.
Lord hear us.
We know that more and more people are now facing real poverty due to circumstances beyond their control. We pray that those who govern and manage our economy will work to find some real solutions to these problems and that all the councillors and others who have recently been elected serve their own communities well and are able to make a difference.
Lord hear us.
We pray that St Peters will grow stronger as a community and that, as we do so, we are increasingly conscious of the part we need to play within our wider community and of how we can work for social justice in our area and beyond. We particularly welcome those who are new to or visiting our parish.
Lord hear us.
We pray for those we know who are facing real difficulties or crossroads in their lives. We pray for the sick, including those who have recently had or are suffering from long covid, and for those who care for them.
We pray for those who have recently died and for those whose anniversaries are at this time including Michael Borrie, Carl Sanderson, Vera Hale, Ruby Hay, Diana Lyn Kirkpatrick, Beatrice Jay, Marjorie Moore and Jennifer Moore.
Grant them eternal rest, O Lord, and may thy light perpetual shine upon them.
