Palm Sunday, April 9th
9th April 2017 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Palm Sunday marks the beginning of Holy Week – the last week of Jesus’s ministry on earth. On this day, we celebrate the entry of Jesus into Jerusalem. He entered into the city on a donkey, in humility and love, knowing that his journey would end on his sacrificial death on the Cross. As he entered, people threw their cloaks on the floor before him, in recognition of him as the saviour of mankind.
As Christians, we believe that God cloaked himself in human form and came to earth in the life of Jesus Christ.
This amazing story lies at the heart of the Christian God of love and forgiveness, open to all at every moment. Holy Week gives us the chance to enter into this holy time, commemorating the life and love of the Christ through whom we can experience a warm and loving relationship with God.
At St Peter’s, we start this service in De Beauvoir Square at 10am, carrying palms. Julia, our vicar, will bless the palms and we will process into church. Some members of the congregation will take part in the Reading of the Passion.
