Good Friday Liturgy

A short devotional service beginning at 12 Noon, to coincide with the beginning of Jesus’ final hours. We enter in silence, kneeling as a sign of repentance. We proclaim the Cross as a sign of our devotion to what God has achieved through Christ. We pray the solemn intercessions of Good Friday before receiving Communion from the Altar of Repose. We leave in silence after hearing how Jesus’ body was laid in the tomb, using a medieval tone of lament – the “Planctus” – a haunting song with echoes of the victory of hope we are about to celebrate.
