Lord, we thank you for the work of the various teams and individuals who have enriched our worship during this time of interregnum and we pray for Fr Simon Cuff as he prepares to be our new vicar from November. We ask for your blessing on all who work or will work with young people in this parish and particularly for our Noisy Church team.
Lord, in the silence, hear our prayer.
Father, please be with the politicians and opinion leaders who are preparing for the COP26 conference that begins in Glasgow at the end of this month. You have given us a precious resource to cherish in this, your beautiful creation and we are conscious of how often we fall short of how we should be doing that. Help us to see how we can nurture, rather than despoil, our magnificent planet.
Lord, in the silence, hear our prayer.
Help those who are sick, Lord, whether that sickness be of body, mind or spirit. We pray for those who care for sick and frail people and we, each of us, ask for the strength and commitment to persuade our politicians of the need to support carers and to pay for them properly.
Lord, in the silence, hear our prayer.
We pray for those who have died recently and for those whose anniversaries fall at this time: Ashmore James; Clairmonte Inniss-Allsopp; Stan Jacobs and Heather Schilling.
Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord and may thy light perpetual shine upon them.
Oh Lord, help us to remember that we are part of a praying community and that even when our prayer life seems difficult or challenging, you are there welcoming our attempts to talk to and to listen to you. Oh Lord, in your mercy hear our prayers now and listen for those we will utter up in the coming weeks and years.
Merciful Father, accept these prayers for the sake of your son, our Saviour, Jesus Christ.
