Intercessions
From Boachie Dankwah
Father and compassionate God, we have made a practical commitment with you because we have faith in you and by that faith we are healed just as you healed a woman’s daughter by taking away a demon out of her and making a deaf-mute man speak in our gospel reading. May the faith we have in you strengthen us in the spirit of Jesus Christ.
Lord, in the silence
Hear our prayer
Our thoughts and prayers are with those who hide their sufferings from the rest of the world. They always have a smile for us, and we end up thinking they are completely fine. These are the ones who spend their nights crying out to their Lord. Lord, please send forth your word and heal these people in their sufferings and give them the power to speak and stand against suppression and intimidation.
Lord, in the silence
Hear our prayer
Dear Lord, we bring before you our troubled world where there is war, natural disaster, famine, and social injustice. We pray for peace and harmony for the ongoing political tension in Afghanistan, the tropical storm in parts of America especially in Louisiana and in Haiti, in East Africa where 7 million people are at risk of starvation and those who have been unfairly treated because of their age, race and gender.
Lord, in the silence
Hear our prayer
We pray for those who are mourning the loss of their loved ones recently. We hold in our heart and mind the family of Gordon Webb who died last two weeks. We remember those whose anniversary of their death falls at this time namely Margaret Philips.
Rest eternal grant unto them O Lord
May thy light perpetual shine upon
Jesus said, “love one another as I have loved you.” We sometimes fall out with our brother or sister and don’t show love and we refuse to talk to each other. Let us not deceive ourselves by saying we love Jesus but hate our brother or sister. Let us begin this week by reconciling with our brother or sister who we have fallen out with by showing love.
Merciful Father,
Accept these prayers for the sake of saviour Jesus Christ.
Amen
