Intercessions

From Jay Wilkes

Lord , we see your promise that the manifold wisdom of God be made known through your church.

We pray this may be especially true in St Peter de Beauvoir.

Encourage us to bear witness through faith in Christ to your power in our daily lives here.

We pray at the start of a new year, for leadership in our church especially praying for Justin , our Archbishop, Sarah and Joanne our Bishops and for Fr Simon here.

We ask that you will bless the work of Sarah and our pastoral team with in this church. Teach your church to look and be radiant and tender hearted.

May, in the words of Isiah, the glory of the Lord be seen in our church.

Lord in your mercy,

Hear our prayer

Lord we lift our world before you.

Where we have squandered your resources,  we ask for forgiveness and a new response.

Where famine threatens in Afghanistan, we ask for some way of delivering relief.

Where death threatens in Myanmar and in many countries with oppressive governments, we pray for protection for families in danger.

We pray for refugees all over the world that they may find protection and safety.

We ask that we look for ways to help refugees in our own country and community through our ongoing support as prices rise here and jobs are scarce.

We pray that we may have leaders in government who work to shield the poor and house the homeless.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer.

Lord we come at a time of increasing challenge during the pandemic. We are conscious that our NHS health staff are tired and stretched.

Help our leaders and us, as individuals, to make decisions to reduce risks of the spread of infection.  We pray for patience and encouragement for those isolating.

Give wisdom to those staff members in Great Ormond Street at this time who are looking after Baby Elodie. We pray that you will strengthen the family and bring healing.

We pray for all in hospital who cannot see their family.

We lift before God quietly or aloud others known to us who are sick and in need or prayer.

Lord in your mercy

Hear our prayer.

We pray for those who have died recently. Especially we pray for our beloved sister Liz Kohler. May her soul rest in peace and be raised to glory.

We pray for Mervyn, Joe and Katherine and their families as they grieve.

We pray for the departed whose anniversaries fall at this time, including Rosalind Chevallier, John Ridout and Jonathan Pedder.

We are conscious of many in our congregation who have lost a loved one this year and we pray with them.

Rest eternal grant unto them oh Lord, and may light perpetual shine upon them.

Lord, accept these prayers for the sake of our saviour Jesus Christ.

Amen
